To protect the welfare of human subject participants, federal regulations give authority to the Institutional Review Board to oversee the welfare of human subject participants. This class will discuss the federal and university regulations and policy and procedures that must be adhered to in order to protect them.

An increasing number of federal and private funding agencies require a Data Management Plan (DMP) as part of a grant application. This session will cover what a DMP is, examples of guidance from different funding agencies, and resources that are available to help craft DMPs. This course is a pre-requisite for ESP17.

Developing a comprehensive data management strategy is essential to meeting federal and private funder guidelines for data sharing. This class will cover best practices in data documentation, organization, storage, and sharing. ESP16 is a pre-requisite for this course
